New Years 2012

For New Years we celebrated by going to our friends house for a surprise birthday party. It was so fun to ring in the New Year with everyone.

2011 was so good to us. We have been so blessed with so many things including how healthy we all have been, escpecially Jadyn. We recently received news that after 15 months of being constantly poked to test Jadyns red blood cell count we are finally done. Yahoo! Her counts are up and she is looking good. I remember last New Years we spent it at Primary Childrens while Jadyn got a blood transfusion. No fun. Glad that she have come so far. We have enjoyed being a family of three and watching Jadyn grow this year and seeing her learn new things everyday.

I can't believe that I forgot my camera on Christmas. These are the only pictures we have from that day. Good thing for cell phones.

Christmas was so fun with a little one year old girl who loved opening presents. Thank goodness for new toys. We were getting pretty bored at home :) She also got a play kitchen from Santa which she loves.

Christmas Time

Its hard to believe that last year our baby girl had only been home from the NICU for 12 days before it was Christmas. She was the best present and it so fun to cuddle with her and soak up all her tinyness.

This year she is a whole new kind of fun. She has loved "helping" Mom decorate the house and the ornaments are slowly making there way to just the upper half of the tree. I guess thats what happens when you have a one year old around the house :)

I wish this time of year could last forever. Four more days till Christmas. It is flying by way too fast. Next on the list: visit Santa at the Mall and see the lights at Temple Square. Hopefully this weekend will be filled with cuddle time, movies, hot chocolate, and lots of family, food, and relaxation. Hope Santa finds us too. We have all been very good this year :)

Jadyn discovered how cool toilet paper is a few weeks ago. Everytime she leaves the room I know where she is usually headed. And yes she loves to eat it. This is what happens when I forget to put it up where she can't reach it. Who is her Mother?

I read somewhere that little messes left behind are reminders that a baby lives and plays here.. and that I love.

Halloween Time

(I realize I'm about about a month late posting about Halloween and with Thanksgiving a couple of days away I decided I better get on it.)

We started off our Halloween festivities by going to Daddy's work to go trick or treating.

Our little cheetah girl was all smiles.

By the time we met half of Cade's co-workers Jadyn had cried off all her makeup. Ha! She is quite our sensitive girl. Lets just say Halloween is not her favorite Holiday. I don't blame her. Scary makeup and costumes would make me cry too.

That night we headed over Grandma and Grampa Booth's house for a family Halloween party which included the most amazing chili, soup, and corn bread. So fun to hang out with family and play with cousins.

Poor girl went through all sorts of emotions when it came time to smash her cake. She thought it was cool when everyone was standing around her waiting for the cake, then got a little weary when they started singing, and then finally lost it when her cake was brought out in front of her. Not exactly the way I thought it would go, but oh well she was still cute. Her crying may have had something to do with me trying to put her party hat on. I guess it was too much to take in for one little girl.

We sure do love our Jadyn girl!

Our ONE Year Old

How did this year fly by so fast?

I cannot believe that it has been a whole year since our baby girl joined our family. I start to get emotional when I think back on this past year and everything that we have been through. To think about those NICU days (or should I say months) makes me so grateful for how far she has come.. She is a healthy, happy girl who loves to play and play and cruise all over the whole house. I'm so grateful that I get to be her Mother. She has brought so much joy to us this past year. We are so blessed!

Stats:

19.2 lbs (20th percentile), 27.5 inches (10th percentile)

Jadyn's Favorite Things:

- WALK and walk and walk (with my help of coarse). At about 10.5 months Jadyn discovered she can finally be mobile by walking if she holds onto our fingers. Our lives (and my back) have not been the same since. She no longer wants to sit on the floor and play with toys. She is the happiest when she is standing or walking. For the past month she has pushed her little walker around the house and has put so many miles on that thing. She will now cruise around the funiture and stand for quite a while by herself.
- Jadyn loves to swing in the back yard with mom. She could be entertained by this for hours. Not looking forward to these winter months ahead when we can no longer go outside to play.
- She loves table foods and wants anything that Mom or Dad eats. Turkey, string cheese, pasta, fruit, yogurt, crackers and gold fish are her favorite foods. (She now has 10 teeth).
-Loves other kids. She will light up as soon as she sees them. She tends to smother our guests when they come over to play.

Summer Happenings

24th of July

For the 24th of July we headed down to Monroe this year. Cade has a lot of family there and was invited to play in the basketball tournament with his Jenkins cousins. It was so weird not going to Panaca but I soon found out that Monroe has all the same festivities that Panace does... BBQ, basketball tournament, parade, races, etc... so I felt a little more at home. Jadyn had a great time. Here she is at the parade with her Monroe frisby.

Her and I even got to experience our first "Punch Bag". (Pink Lemonade in a bag that you drink with a straw for those of you who don't know). I learned that they drank their milk out of bags instead of cartons at school too. Weird :)

Hunt Family Reunion

I was so excited to go to the Hunt reunion this year at the Cleaveland Ranch where my sister Heather lives. We haven't had a Hunt reunion in awhile and I miss them so much. It's so fun to see all my Aunts and Uncles and cousins that I grew up with. I missed Grandma Hunt so much. It was weird not having her there. What a fun time we had though. Thankfully Jadyn still camped well in a tent too (for the 5th time this summer).

This year for our annual Mathews Family Reunion we headed to California. Cade, Jadyn and I headed down early to my brothers house to spend the 4th of July and soak up as much sun as we could. We were there for a total of 10 days. I could've stayed even longer. We had so much fun!

For the reunion we camped at Doheny Beach in Dana Point.

If you have never camped at the beach before I highly recommend it :)

We even got some family pictures taken...which is quite an accomplishment with my family.

We snuck in an Angels games too. Our entire family went. We basically took up one whole section.

3 Years

On July 5th Cade and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary

We happened to be in California at the time. That morning we headed to Launga Beach to eat breakfast at The Cottage. Jadyn came with us and it was fun to spend the day with just the three of us.

After breakfast we headed down to Newport Beach. We hung out with our friends, the Aalona/Gallagher's, for a bit at their beachhouse.

And of coarse took at stroll down the boardwalk and peir.

That night my sister watched Jadyn while Cade and I went out to dinner. It was such a fun day!

I can't believe we've been married for three years and that we are now a little family of three. I feel so blessed!

Summer

Our summer has been full of campfires, tents, swimming, beaches and hanging out with friends and family. Everything a good summer should be.

9 Months

Nine Months Old

We love our happy girl!

On June 30th Jadyn turned 9 months old. Here are some new things she is doing:

Picks up food and feeds herself. I thought that was a pretty big accomplishment when she started using those little pinchers. She will sit in her high chair and feed herself Puffs all day if I let her.
The middle of June she finally started sitting up without me having to worry about her.
String cheese, cottage cheese and deli turkey are her new favorite foods.
New tooth poked through...making that 3. With a few more about to arrive any day I think.
Acts sooo suprised when she sucks anything out of her sippy. Its almost like it scares her. She definately needs more practice.
Gives herself kisses in the mirror.
Mimics me when I make popping noises with my mouth.
For some reason she thinks I am funnier everyday. I could listen to that giggle of hers all day long.

8 Months Have Come and Gone

I cant believe this little Lovebug is getting so big.

Man time sure does fly. I stumbled upon Jadyn's preemie/newborn clothes the other day and found myself sifting through them amazed at how little she was. Can a baby really fit in newborn clothes? It doesn't seem likely now that I have this chunk-a-lunk on my hands. We've even got to experience her tinyness a little longer than most parents. About two more extra months that is.

For now here are some things I want to remember about 8 months (adjusted age 6 months):

Accomplishments lately:

- Sitting up...Well for a few minutes that is. She has just started taking off lately and can even recover when she starts to tip. I feel like we have been at that tipsy sitting up stage forever...at least two months. Note: she does remarkably better when her helmet is off. We will just have to keep practicing.

- About a month ago Jadyn started sprouting two little bottom teeth. They are cute little stubs now and I love that little smile. I have to watch out though she is a little biter.

-She will hold her bottle now through a full feeding but hast to be in the mood and mostly wants mom to do it

-Overcame her frist sickness (bronciolitis and an ear infection)...I don't know if thats an accomplishment but I'm just glad she is doing better.
- Only wears her helmet at night time and naps. HORRAY!

Things she loves:

- J's new favorite thing is swimming. We've been a few times now and she just loves it. She gets so excited she will kick those little legs and get those arms moving so fast. She is usually all smiles as soon as she hits the water

-Continues to love reading books. She will now turn the pages of her board books all by herself.

-Loves to play outside.

-Loves pretty much any food you give her. Also loves to try and grab her spoon when eating (which mom doesn't love)

-Loves to dance with mom or dad. You put music on and give her a twirl around the living room and she thinks this is the greatest thing ever.

- Loves songs. If she is grumpy you just start singing her fav "Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree" and a smile will come every time.

-Loves her Daddy. When he gets her ready for bath time at night I can sometimes hear her giggling away at him.

Cali

Jadyn and I took off for a week to visit Brent and Lindsay and escape this UT weather. At first I thought a week away was going to be too long but it flew by WAY too fast. We missed Cade but sure did have fun in that California sun :) Jadyn got to experience a lot of things for the first time. She surprised me by how well she loved everything. She was even good on the airplane.

Happy Easter

For Easter we went to my sister Heather's house to meet up with with some of the family. They live on a Ranch in NV and it was so nice to be out in the fresh air.

Spent some time geting to know these horses. They would come up and sniff Jadyn whenever we would walk by.

Jadyn is the little one on the end. (I don't think you can miss her and her helmet...poor girl). I think she liked her Easter basket. She would carry it around everywhere. Here she is with some of her cousins that made the trip.

We Did It

I had such a hard time when I learned that Jadyn had Plagiocephaly and would need a helmet to help shape her head. It wasn't a huge shock since her head got pretty flat on her right side when she lying in her hospital bed for so long. But I thought that by me working diligently on the left side when she got home this would help shape it. I was wrong. All it did was make it very odd shape.

The first time we went to the Dr to get her head scanned, I walked in and saw a baby wearing one and walked straight back to the car telling Cade that I couldn't do it. I was worried about how she would handle it but also was afraid of how it would make her look and all the stares and questions I would receive. I guess it was somewhat of a pride issue. I joked that when we got the helmet I was going into hiding for a few months. I didn't think that I would take many pictures and definitely wouldn't blog about it. But that has all changed somehow. Ever since she started wearing it I have embraced it and CUTE little face of hers!

She has handled it like a champ! She wears it 23 hours a day and doesn't seem bothered by it at all (except for the first several nights, she would wake up like 5 or 6 times but would go right back to sleep). She now thankfully pretty much sleeps through the night again. I learned that I don't even mind the stares either. I get asked whats wrong with her head about a millions times from children, especially at church, but I would be curious if I were them too.

So here's to 2 1/2 more months of this thing. Bring it on!

6 Months

Jadyn is now six months old.

On April 4th we went to her 6 month appointment. She is still so little for her age. We can't believe how short she is. Ha. I'm sure she will catch up soon.

Stats:

Weight 13 lbs. 15 oz. (15th %)

Height 23.2 inches (3rd %)

What Jadyn is doing:

Rolling from her stomach to her back. (Still needs a little help rolling to her stomach)
Can sit up on her own for a few seconds before tipping over. I think sometimes she is just leaning forward balancing on her belly. Ha! She needs to work on those abs hiding under that fluid somehow.
She has to put EVERYTHING in her mouth
Loves to play with toys. When she drops one she throws a fit until she gets it back.
Has been sleeping 12 hours at night for a while now.
Gets the hiccups after she laughs
Started rice cereal but still doesn't like it too much yet

Blessing Day

We blessed Jadyn this past Sunday on March 6th.

It was such an amazing day. Jadyn was a pretty good girl. She started to loose it right before it was time to bless her. Thank goodness for a binkie and for Uncle Scott to keep it in her mouth. :)

Cade is such a good dad and gave such a good blessing. We feel so lucky to have her in our lives!
Thanks to all the family and friends who could make it. We missed the ones that couldn't.

5 Months

We seriously LOVE this girl and can't get enough of her.

I can't believe she is already 5 months old. I don't know how much she weighs right now but will find out next week. My guess is a little over 12 lbs.

I have to keep reminding myself that her adjusted age (developmentally) is 3 months. The doctors say I will need to adjust her age until she is about 1 year old since she will be about 2 months behind. I see other 5 month old babies who are so big and who are playing with toys and are so strong. Jadyn is getting there but is still so little for her age but is getting stronger everyday.

Here are some things I want to remember at 5 months:

*She loves to sit in her Bumbo so she can see whats going on.

*She loves her swing. If I can't get her to go to sleep any other way I know if I put her in her swing she will zonk out in a matter of seconds. This is often what she looks like.

*She absolutely hates the car right now. As soon as you put her in she will scream the whole way until you get her out. So sad. It breaks my heart.

*When she is playing on the floor and there are toys hanging above her, she will get her little arms and legs moving so fast. She kicks likes crazy because she is so excited. She doesn't quite grab the toys yet but will occasionally flail her arm up there and hit them. She recently started blowing bubbles in excitement too. She will focus so hard on the toys and pretty soon she will have a bubble mustache going down each side of her mouth.

*She giggled for the first time last week....So cute. Melt my heart. Wish I would have caught it on camera.

*The fluid in her belly is slowly going down. I can tell a difference lately. This is helping her be more mobile I think. She will occasionally roll on to her side. My niece informed me the other day that she knows Jadyn is not fat... but she looks fat because of the water in her belly. I thought it was funny.

*She finally went to church for the very first time on Sunday. Our doctors told us to keep her home for quite a while because of her premature lungs but we decided it was finally time. She was a good girl and was pretty entertained by books that I brought.

*And finally... something really blog worthy... Ha.....We played outside today for the first time!! So so sad that it has taken this long. I'm really jealous of my Cali peeps who get to play outside everyday and go on walks. Up until today, all Jadyn's outside experiences mainly consisted of be covered in the car seat on the way to the car because it is always freezing or snowing or raining or something. But today it was a whopping 50 degrees so we ventured out. We went on a walk and Jadyn loved swinging with her Momma. It will probably snow tomorrow but we enjoyed the nice day while we could :)

Four Months

I am proud to say that Jadyn finally smiles. Jan 10th was her first real big social smile. And she still melts my heart every time. It is the hardest thing to ever capture on the camera. As soon as i bring out the camera she just stares at it forever and wont take her eyes off it. I just happened to catch it twice.

Right now J is a pretty easy baby. She is still on a pretty good schedule: Eats every 3 hours, is awake for about an hour, then sleeps for 2 hours until its time to eat again. ( I contribute some of her sleeping to her anemia). After her noon feeding is when she is the most fun. She likes to talk, smile, and we will play on the floor with toys and do tummy time. She sleeps for about 7 hours at night which is so nice. She seems to be getting so big and I'm happy to announce that the fluid in her belly has gone down quite a bit in the past 2 weeks. It got really big there for a while and our pediatrician was a little concerned that it was getting harder for her to breathe because of the pressure it puts on her lungs. We went to see another GI Dr at Primary Childrens and by that time it had gone down quite a bit. They are not too worried about it. They say it should continue to go down on her own and might take several more months. We continue to do blood work on her, me, Cade and family members to see if we can figure out her diagnosis. But right now she is a happy and seems to be healthy... thankfully!

P.S. I do realize that this is now officially Jadyn's blog. Cade and I are very boring now. Maybe someday we will do something worthy of sharing but as for now Jadyn is much more fun to talk about.

Catching up

So I decided I need to post more pictures of Jadyn since she has been home so I don't forget what shes like when she's little. Most of these pictures are older but hopefully some updated ones will be coming soon.

These are some of the things she loves:

She loves to cuddle with mom and dad (which I'm told doesn't last too long..sadly)

And doesn't mind too much getting dressed

(She is definately getting some cheeks on her which make them that more kissable!)

Other things she likes right now:

Loves to fall asleep on her boppy of all places
Likes her carseat as long as the car is moving!
Loves to eat..which is a huge improvement from her hospital days
Likes to study your face and be more alert at times
Is begining to like her crib a little bit more even though she has not transitioned to nights in there yet - hopefully we will master that soon

Three months

Our baby turned three months old on Dec 30th. That day she had an appointment at Primary Childrens with the hematologist. They discovered that her hematacrit had suddenly dropped and she needed a blood transfusion. Poor girl suffers from severe anemia. She handled her blood transusion very well and is doing great.

She weighed 10 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long at her appointment.

Jadyn has been a joy and is a good baby. I can't wait for the day when she can smile back at me. Even though she is three months old, her adjusted age is about 5 weeks. So hopefully she will be smiling soon!

We loved having Jadyn here with us for Christmas. She was the best present ever! Christmas was pretty quiet this year. Just the three of us...but it was great! I couldn't feel more blessed. Can't wait to see what this next year brings!

We couldn't be more excited! She is a healthy, happy girl. She is still anemic and still has fluid in her belly, but after everything we went through we find these two things very very minor. She does not have Turner's Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy or any brain damage that they thought that she might. She is our little miracle baby and we feel so blessed!!. I feel like a say this alot but I don't think you can say it enough... Thanks for everyones prayers and support! We love having her home :)

Exciting News!!!

I am so happy to announce that Jadyn is doing so good! It was hard when she wasn't able to come home on her due date. I had to find a whole new level of patience.

Yesterday we started a trial run of feeding her according to her own schedule instead of feeding her every 3 hours whether she was awake or not (through her tube). The only condition to pass this test was that she has to wake up and take everything my mouth - no feeding tube. I knew she could do it and was really pushing for them to give her this chance.

She has done amazing so far and this is a huge and final step in her coming home!!!

If she keeps this up she is most likely coming home in just a few days!!! We hope! I don't even dare write that in fear that she won't but I believe that she is ready. Can't wait for the day when I can pack her up in her car seat and make that trip home... finally! She also was able to get off her oxygen today which is a huge accomplishment. Hopefully she keeps it up!

She is a little over 9 weeks old and I can't believe how big she is. Last night when they weighed her she weighed 8 lbs and 4 oz. Can you believe that?? Granted a lot of that is fluid but it's so crazy how fast they grow. She used to just be a tiny thing only 4 lbs not too long ago.

On Nov 30th our baby girl turned two months old!!!

It is so hard to get pictures of her when this is what she looks like everyday....

I attempted to stick a headband on her to celebrate the occasion but she was sleeping like a rock and I didn't want to mess with her too much. I tried :)

She had a big accomplishment this week:

She got her very first bath! Ha! How sad is that...she had to wait that long because of IV's and other things that would pop up preventing her to have one. Good thing little babies are able to go so long without one.

Over all Jadyn is doing fairly well except for the fluid that has reappeared in her belly and she has had some issues with her blood that we are trying to work out. Her red blood cell count is very low making her sleepy a lot of the time. But besides that she is doing great!

Thanksgiving was my due date. It was so weird to think that I should just now be having a baby but instead I have a 8 week old.

Here I am right before I had Jadyn at 31 weeks.

I don't think there is anyway I would have made it 2 more months :) I was huge!

I was able to spend most of Thanksgiving with Jadyn. I can't believe how old she is getting.

Jadyn was finally doing better when they discovered the fluid was coming back in her belly. She got a sample of the fluid sent off to see what was going on but all the tests they were looking for came back negative. We don't know what has caused the fluid to come back but she is handling it pretty well considering all the added pressure. She finally started handling her tube feeds better and I was able to start nursing again. Then they did another an ultrasound and discovered air in her bowels and we had to stop feeding her again for 24 hrs. Poor girl. Everything checked out and she has been doing pretty good ever since then

6 weeks

After 2 weeks of being sick Jadyn finally got over her infection. She was on IV's and did not get to eat for 10 days which was so sad, especially at the end of her sickness when she was starting to get hungry and wanted food. For 8 of the days that she was sick, so was I with a mild head cold. So I stayed away too scared to give her anything on top of the infection she had. I think that one of the hardest things I had to go through since she was born.

On my birthday, since I had gotten the ok from the Dr., I finally was able to go see Jadyn. It was such a good present :) My mom also was able to be here for my birthday and was able to hold Jadyn for the first time.

Even though I just did a post below from last week (i'm a little behind), I thought I'd give you all an update on Jadyn is doing this week. Good news or bad news our blog is a good way to keep everyone updated and a good way for me to document what she is going through.

This has been a rough week for Jadyn. They think that she may have some sort of virus or infection but have not been able to determine what exactly is going on. It started out as diarrhea and now 3 days later she is off her tube feedings, has two IV sites, is on antibiotics, and has a tube to empty her stomach. They have had to give her some blood also. They continue to do more tests on her and we are waiting for more results. She is starting to do a little bit better and we hope that she continues to get over this bump in the road. I can't wait to have my old Jadyn back. We always hear that it is a rollercoaster ride in the NICU but haven't experienced it until now. I feel like she just took 5 steps backwards. On top of all that I woke up with a very mild runny nose, so I will be spending my time at home until I know for sure that I am not sick. It is scary how easily little preemies can catch something. I am so paranoid. I hope I can visit her soon. It is so hard to be away from her.

Well that is my update for now. No pictures this week (look at my last post for the latest). We continue to pray for her and know she will be able to overcome this soon. It is crazy to think that she is already 5 weeks old today! Thanks for everyones continued prayers and support.

One month old/Halloween

On Oct 30th our sweet girl turned one month old.

I always thought I would have cute professional newborn pictures taken, and then have some good pics at one month old also. Well things like that don't work out so well when your baby is in the NICU. So for now these pics will have to work. Its weird to think that when she was one month old I was only suppose to be 36 weeks pregnant.

She is starting to grow so much and is filling out. Check out these chubby cheeks.

Jadyn accomplished something huge this week...On Oct 26th she started breastfeeding for the first time! We have been waiting for like 2 weeks for her to become alert enough to act like she was interested in trying to suck. That Tues she was awake enough for me to see if she would latch on. She did quickly and acted like a pro. Since she is so sleepy all the time, we were only able to practice a few more times that week. She falls asleep really fast and is trying to learn the art of how to suck and breathe and the same time.

Halloween

The NICU takes pictures for free at Halloween time so we decided to get some done. I wasn't there when they did them but they were able to take her tubes out and just blow oxygen by her face.

Jadyn will probably hate us for getting these done. I thought she was going to be a cute princess, a fairy or even a bunny... but instead I think she looks a little like Hulk Hogan LOL! Ok... that is mean to say but I'm not the biggest fan of the costume they put on her. But I still think she is the cutest thing ever!!!

About five more weeks in the NICU. Our baby girl seems to be getting so big :) She has had some big changes this past week...

Oct 18th she went from being naked all the time....

......to wearing clothes for the first time!!!

I love this picture! She is not awake very often but when she is I just want to squeeze her! I'm glad that I happened to capture it on camera. It was so weird to walk in her room that day and see her with clothes on. They were trying to wean her from her isolette.

Later that day she was moved from her first home in the isolette..

...to her big girl bed in an open crib!

She only lasted in the open crib for a day and a half until she got moved back into her isolette because she was borderline on keeping her temperature up. They decided that she was using all her calories trying to stay warm instead of growing. So for now she is back in the isolette but it was still a big step!

Jadyn is now 2 weeks old. We get to hold her a lot more now. I have been able to do skin to skin with her and I love it and would like to think that she loves it too. She is always so good and seems so content.

On 10/7/10 Jadyn turned one week old!

Once Cade got off work we headed to the hospital to celebrate.

Daddy's Visit

Then since Jadyn got her CPAP turned down to a 5, the nurse surprised us by letting us hold her for the very first time.

There is no better feeling than being able to hold your precious baby in your arms. I became very emotional. It was such an amazing experience. I always imagined being able to hold my baby right after birth but that didn't happen in our case. Up until that point I was only allowed to reach into her isolet and place my fingers on her tiny little body, hold her hand, or touch her foot. No rubbing or caressing was allowed because it was too much stimulation.

In Jadyn's first week:

About 300 ml of fluid was drained from her stomach
Advanced from her ventilator to her CPAP
Began tube feedings. Started out on 4 ml and advanced to 15 ml
Got a million test taken
Lost about 8 oz in weight: from 4 lb 13 oz to 4 lb 5 oz (which is desired because of her ascites)

We love our baby girl and are glad that she is doing welll!!!

She came as a surprise....two whole months before her due date.

I feel like there is so much to tell (especially since I haven't updated my blog in forever).

In a nutshell: My doctors had told me she would come early because of all the fluid in her stomach and because I had triple the amiotic fluid I should have. They said my body thought that I was fullterm. My goal was to make it to at least 36 weeks but I made it to 32 instead.

Jadyn's Birth Story:

WARNING: long post

Wednsday Sept. 29th - (times are approximate)

11:30 am - Cade and I arrive at hospital for my weekly non stress test
12:00 pm - After monitoring me for a half hour my nurse told me that my contractions were 4 min apart and since my doctor was downstairs at Labor and Delivery she wanted me to go get checked out just to be safe.
12:15 pm - After getting checked in at Labor and Delivery, we hurried down the hall for our appointment we had set up with the NICU doctor to get a tour of St. Marks Newborn Intesive Care Unit
12:45 pm - Got changed and hooked up to monitors to follow my contractions
1:30 pm - Contractions now coming 2 min apart
1:45 pm - Cervix checked and thinned
2:00 pm - Given a shot of medicine to relax my uterus and slow down contractions
2:30 pm - After contractions slowed down quite a bit, I was given different medication to slow down contractions further
3:00 pm - Sent home with a perscription and put on bed rest!!!
4:00 pm - Arrive at home and go straight to bed
5:35 pm - My WATER BROKE!!
5:50 PM - Called doctor. Cade arrives home from work and we head to hospital (good thing I packed a bag a few days before)

Things are somewhat a blur after that. I will spare all the other details but in a nutshell because I was such a high risk we were sent to a different hospital that we had never been to before. When we arrived they would not let us in because it just happened to be on lock down because of security reasons. So there we are...we can't get in, and my i'm totally out of my element with none of my doctors that I'm used to. A hour later we finally got checked in. They told me that since my water broke and my contractions were irregular, they were going to try and keep me there 2 weeks before they would take our baby.

11:00pm - Contractions 1 min apart and the 4 doctors working on me decided they need to take the baby via C-Sect. They threw a pair of scrubs at Cade and said put these on we are doing a C-sect in an hour.

Thurs Sept 30th:

12:00 am - Wheel me into OR, prep, give me an epidural, send Cade in....... AND
12:26 am - JADYN MARNI BOOTH makes her arrival in the world

Our sweet baby was immediately passed through the window into the NICU where she will spend the next 8 weeks.

Thanks for every ones support. Jadyn has been stable and seems to be improving each day. She has equipment to help her breathe and is doing fairly well on her tube feedings. She still has her PIC line in but it may come out soon. She is beautiful and doing well and that is all we can ask for. I have the hardest time leaving her after my visits each day. It is so weird to come home empty handed. I look forward to the day when she can come home with us. We love our baby girl and feel so blessed to have her in our lives.

Bear Lake and Update

Last weekend Cade and I and about 20 of our friends all went to Bear Lake.

We had lots of fun hanging at Keira's cabin, laying in the sun (well me trying to stay outta the sun), going to the demolition derby, and eating raspberry shakes.

Update:

Cade and I are trying to go on with life as normal as possible. We moved into our new place in South Jordan on Mon. I will have to post pics of that later when its decorated...which might be a while. Now that we have an extra bedroom I am having a hard time trying not to think about the nursery I want to create.

As far as Dr. appointments I am now going every week. One week I go to my reg OB, then the next to my specialist. I still get so nervous when i go in for my ultrasounds. Everything is pretty much the same as far as her fluid and outcome. I guess I'm just relieved she is not getting worse...so I'll take it. We have made it to 26 weeks. The heartbeat is still good and she is still growing. My doctors seem to think this could either be a good thing because her odds have SLIGHTLY improved since I have made it a little further, or a bad thing because the longer I carry her the more attached I get. They still are not too optimistic. But I have no choice but to think that she just might make it.
I told a few people I would try and let them know what was going on so hopefully this little update works for now.

I have always been one of those people who are reluctant to share anything too personal on my blog but woke up this morning and felt so grateful for all of our wonderful family and friends and for all their thoughts, prayers and support. Even though I don't know what the future holds I have felt some comfort in the past few days and I know it is because of all your prayers so thank you!

I know that our blog is the only way we keep in touch with a few of our friends, so now that I can somewhat talk about it... here it is.

Our story...........

When I was 20 weeks pregnant we went in to have our ultrasound at the hospital to finally find out what we were having. It had been 4 1/2 weeks since we initially tried to find out if it was a boy or a girl and the suspense and excitement was killing me. I was anxious as Cade and I drove there but I told Cade that above anything else I just wanted them to tell us it was a healthy baby. I knew at this appointment they would be going over all the anatomy of our baby.

I was estatic to see our little one up on the screen. The tech went through the ultrasound pictures telling us what we were seeing as we went. At the end as I thought we were wrapping up and she was going to let us see what we were having, she suddenly but camly said there is something wrong with our baby. I was stunned. What did she mean? She said there was fluid in the stomach and went to go get the Dr. I had already began to unravel. Cade tried to keep me calm by saying that we didn't know what was wrong yet and that we shouldn't jump to thinking the worst. Which helped but I was still terrified waiting there not knowing what was going on.

A few min later the Dr came in, took a look at things, and announced to us that our baby has a cystic hygroma, which is basically a fluid filled tumor behind our babies neck. He said by looking at the fluid buildup our baby has a chromasome abnormality that he believes to be Turner's Syndrome. He explained that we were having a girl and Turner's Syndrome occurs when there is a missing X Chromosome. I found it very hard to concentrate as he went on to explain that her lyphotic system was not working which was causing there to be fluid in her stomach and chest cavity also. He then gave us the devasating news that babies with Turner's have a very low survival rate and that he did not expect our baby to make it past the next month. I felt like my whole world was upside down. How could this be happening to us and our sweet baby girl?

It has been a very rough month. For a long time I did not want to see or talk to anyone. I am very thankful for my husband and the strong priesthood holder he is. He gave me a blessing and continues to remind me that Heavenly Father has a plan for us even if that plan is not what we want.

Two weeks ago we had another appointment at the Maternal Fetal Medicine. They told us that everything is pretty much the same. It is so hard to see her at those appointments. I just want her to be alright. They wanted to monitor us weekly but said that seeing how hard it is for me that we should come in every 2-3 weeks instead.

Update:

Yesterday I went in to my regular OB. I am 24 weeks and he said that I am measuring where I should , which means she is growing and that the heartbeat is still good. We have made it past the initial point of what they thought. They still don't know what to expect as far as her outcome but it is good to know that there are no problems with her heart! Next week I will have another appointment with the specialist to see whats going on with the fluid.

2 Year Anniversary - Park City

On July 5th we celebrated our Anniversary. I can't believe it's been two years already! It worked out perfect because Cade had work off for the 4th so we headed up to Park City for the weekend. Cade got us a nice room at The Canyons. It was about the size of some apartments we have been looking at lately :) Full size kitchen, living room, 2 fireplaces (even though we didn't use them), jacuzzi tub, etc.

I've been to Park City quite a few times but never remember going there in the summertime. Everything is so green! I loved it!

We went on a Gondola Ride at The Canyons. It was so beautiful. I kind of got freaked out because of the huge canyon that we were helplessly hanging over on the way to the top of the mountain. Once we got up there we checked out the restaurant they have at the top, and then did a little hiking.

That night we went to Cheesecake Factory to top it all off.

It was so nice just to be able to spent time together. Thanks for the great weekend babe! I love you and am so lucky to be your wifey!

False Alarm

I know some of you have been asking, so I thought I'd let you all know that sadly we have no news yet on what we are having. The Doctor and nurses told me that they can tell what we are having by 15 weeks. So since I will be 16 weeks along this week I thought we would be able to tell. However, the Doc took a look yesterday but wasn't able to see anything. I was kind of dissappointed but am ok with waiting a little longer also. In about two or three weeks we will find out at our next ultrasound. Thanks for everyone who voted! That was fun for me to see what people think. The only bad part is I didn't know who voted for what. I should have made you leave comments on your guesses too haha. We will keep you posted!

15.5 Weeks

I am feeling great. Everything looked good at our Appointment yesterday. The Doctor said I am measuring where I should be and the heart beat is good. It is so good to hear those words!

Boy or Girl?

Our Secret's Out!

We are finally pregnant!!! I'm 11 weeks and we couldn't be more excited! We went to the doctor for the first time on Monday. I felt so relieved to actually see something in there and hear the heartbeat! The baby was moving it's arms and legs like crazy. After hearing that everything was good from the doctor we decided to break the news to the rest of the family and friends. I wish I could post our ultrasound picture but don't quite have that set up yet. I'm due November 25th - on Thanksgiving Day. Hope it flies by fast. I already can't wait to find out what we are having.

Little update:
The move to SLC has been a little adjustment for me. Things are going really good though! Cade likes his job which I'm so grateful for. It seemed like a lot was happening all at once there for a while. We found out we were pregnant the same time Cade had his interview in Salt Lake. Before we knew it, he got the job and we decided to take it. Two weeks later we were leaving Cedar behind. Right now we are renting a friends Condo for the summer till we find a place of our own. I went from being super busy at work to now having a lot of time on my hands :) Who knows though that could all change pretty fast. For now though we are still just getting a little settled in and I'm trying to find my way around a little better. It's been so fun to have so many of Cade's close friends and family here. I can't wait for it to get warmer and find our what summers are like up here. If anyone wants to come visit please feel free. I hate to admit that I am a little homesick :)

Well since I stole Kimberly away from her hometown for the Holidays for her first time ever, I decided it was my turn to make my long anticipated blog debut. We spent about a week in Salt Lake and got to spend some much needed time with my family. We picked up Grandma in Nephi so she could witness this historical occasion. My brother Brett and his family came in from San Diego, so the Booth family were all together for the first time in years!

I just have to brag to Brent and Lindsay too that this is the best Christmas tree we have ever had....well I guess that just means its better than last years since we've only had one tree.... but still you guys just might be regreting your decision if you saw it. Ha.

I had so much fun cutting down a tree the day after Thanksgiving even though I was missing Cade and missing my camera.

Life Lately

We are all moved into our new place. Yep thats right we moved again for the 3rd time so far since we've been married. I'm not a big fan of moving either. It amazes us everytime how there is this never ending pile of stuff that accumulates at the end of a move that keeps you coming back time after time when you think you are finally done. Maybe some of you know what I'm talking about. Our new place is not only new to us but fairly new in general. It is a 2 year old duplex, kinda small but we love it. We have a back yard which I love. Even though summer is over, it is comforting (especially after living on a second floor of an apartment) that I can just walk outside and enjoy the fresh air whenever I please.

This past weekend we headed out to Panaca for the 100 Year Celebration of Lincoln County High School. It was so fun to go home and see old friends and remember what high school was like not only for me but all those who have attended LCHS in the last 100 years. I think the oldest alumni there was 98 years old. We were able to go to a lot of the activities and watch the Homecoming football game. (P.S. still cannot believe that my nephew is a Senior there! Freaks me out!) Good job Tyler and Logan! But most of all we were there to work. All ten kids came home to help my mom cater a lunch and dinner for about 1000 people. Crazy! Whew, just glad that is over and now my mom can rest.

Fall has definately arrived and summer is gone :(

The only thing that gets me excited this time of year is looking forward to holidays, maybe the occasional snow boarding trip, and snuggling up at home when its cold. This past weekend Cade and I headed to Panaca for the 24th of July celebration we have there. Cade, my two brothers (Chris and Scott), and cousin Lance were all on a team for the traditional 3 on 3 basketball tournament. They did so good and were undefeated.

Dutch Oven Dinner

Every year after the parade we have a big dinner at the church and the whole town comes. This year my dad was Chairman and he decided to have dutch oven dinner. It was so good! I'm proud of him for pullin that off. It's not easy roundin up 150 dutch ovens and cooking chicken, potatoes, baked beans, biscuts, and cobbler for 700 people. Nice work pops! The not so sweet part is I ended up helping make 700 biscuts...uggh!

Some of my family came and here we are hanging out on the porch. I wish we had a pic of the green fields that surround my house. They are so pretty in the summertime, especially at this time of the day. Good old Panaca...sometimes I wish we could live there.

July 5th was our one year anniversary. I can't believe how fast one year can go by. I feel like I was just barely planning my wedding. Yet other times I feel like I've been married forever. Weird how that happens. We really couldn't be happier. One year down....eternity to go...We went to Vegas to celebrate. Cade surprised me with reservations to a hotel a few months ago. What a nice guy! We had so much fun. We hung out by the pool, ate really good food, went to all different places including the shark reef at Mandalay, and finally we hung out with some of our family for the 4th. It was such a nice and relaxing weekend away.

New Place

For those of you who don't know, Cade and I moved from our very first apartment as a married couple. We lived there for about a year but decided to say goodbye about a week ago. We now have a new temporary address for the summer. So to any of our family - if you need our new address let us know.

We are living in a house for the summer and love it. It is so fun to come home to a place with a huge yard. Cade and I tag team in taking care of it. Apparently since I am a turf farmers daughter I get the luxury of mowing while Cade edges. Who thinks Cade took the easy job?? I do :) I actually really enjoy it though. Its nice to be able to spend time outdoors and not be cooped up in a little apartment .

So Cade is giving me crap about blogging about other peoples kids but since we don't have our own I have to blog about them cuz they are the cutest, sweetest things ever! We recently had two new additions to the Mathews family.

It seems like there is finally closure to my college career now that I finally walked on May 2nd. Overall the day was somewhat boring and long, but fun at the same time cuz my family came to celebrate with me. Good thing I have some good Nutrition buddies that kept things interesting too :)

When it came time for President Monson to speak it was like we were at some kind of concert or something. There were so many flashes going off from everyones cameras you couldn't even see his face on the screen. It was very distracting and it lasted throughout his whole talk. I wanted to get on the microphone and tell everyone to stop. But I have to admit when he first stood up I also took a pic but it didn't even turn out because we were on the very last row :)

Graduation is Coming!

Well its time for Graduation this weekend on Sat. May 2nd. For any of my family members who are coming and haven't told me yet, please do :) I know some of you are coming or at least planning on it, and I am super excited! For those of you who want to hear Pres. Monson speak in the morning need to let me know cuz I might be able to get you a ticket. Well I'm sure there will be lots of pics to come next week.

New Job

So for those of you who don't know, I got another job. It came right in the nick of time. Cade and I really needed something else to help us out. I will still keep my job a the the Nursing Home as a Dietary Tech but will also be traveling twice a month all over the country going to conventions to sell products for Story Tellers Club. I just got home from my trip to Louisville, KY. My friend Lizzy and I are travel partners so we definately have some great laughs together. Hopefully I can post some pics soon. The people there were so proud of their basketball team. Too bad they ended up loosing. Maybe I brought them bad luck. There goes my bracket since I picked them to win :(

The trip was great though, except for the traveling aspect of it. On our way there the airlines lost our luggage so we had to spend the night without any of our stuff, and then on the way home our flight was delayed which caused us to miss our connecting flight home. We ended up spending the night in North Carolina. It was all part of the adventure though :) and I'm sure there are a lot more great stories to come. I feel very lucky to have such a fun job. The only hard part is being away from Cade for 5 to 6 DAYS at a time.

Pine Tree Inn and Bakery

I just wanted to give a little shout out to my parents Bed and Breakfast in Panaca, NV. I wanted to help my mom out and just make people aware that the Pine Tree Inn and Bakery was up and running. For those of you who have never been to the great town of Panaca, you are really missing out :) If you want to get away from the city and enjoy some nice quality time with one another, Panaca is definately the place to go.

My parents have completely remodeled my grandmas three story house and turned in into a bed and breakfast a little over a year ago. Some of you may be wondering what in heck would I do in Panaca... but they offer ATV riding (with optional tours to the waterfall and caves), horse riding, and even do catered dinners for bigger groups. There is a warm spring close by along with the famous Catherdral Gorge :)

The now recently remodeled B&B offers great rooms with your own private bathroom, along with a flat screen TV and of course an amazing yummy hot breakfast served in the morning.

Cade and I love to stay there when we go home to visit. This is us last time we went home.

And finally The Wedding

So I kind of neglected to mention the whole reason we went on this trip to California was for Brett and Oxana's wedding. Brett is Cade's oldest brother who got married on Coronado Island on Jan. 16th. We took some pictures on the island before the ceremony. Here is Cade's family (minus the spouses)Here are his siblings. Can you guess which ones are the triplets???

The ceremony was on a boathouse. You can see Cade performing his brotherly duty on the right. The bride and groom looked amazing and the food there was so good. Overall it was a great trip and we are very happy for Brett and Oxana.

Disneyland

The next part of our trip we went to Disneyland! Cade's triplet brother and his wife joined the rest of us along with Cade's older brother and our new neice. It was a blast! Even though I've been to Disneyland many times, this time it was really fun to experience it with my new fam.

California Cont....

So last time I was able to use the internet my camera died so I wasn't able to upload the rest of our trip to California. After we went to my brothers house we then left to go stay with the Booth fam for the rest of the week. We had so much fun. We stayed at this condo at a resort outside of San Diego. It was Cade's parents, nephew, triplet sister and her husband who all crashed there together. Cade and I had to sleep on the hide a bed but we didn't mind. The weather was perfect and it was absolutely beautiful there. Here is the view from our balcony.We went to this beach by San Diego...I think it was called Pacific Beach. There was a Board Walk with lots of shops and restaurants. I could have stayed there forever. I miss the beach so much!

California

Last week Cade and I took off work for the entire week and headed down to Cali. Our first stop was at my brothers house. I always love going there. Thanks Brent and Lindsay for taking care of us and letting us stay! Cade and B chillin by the ocean. It was crazy to go from snow to 85 degree weather. We loved it

We went jet skiing and watched the sunset out on the ocean. We also saw a bunch of dolphins and got to ride right along side them. It was so pretty out there but of course I couldn't take my camera so here is Cade when we got back.

I look ridiculous but oh well :) The water was freezing but the weather was so nice even though it was Jan.

Oh my gosh... I just took my last final EVER!!! I am so excited to finally be done with college, even though graduating in Dec. is completely lame. There is no celebration, no cap and gown, no family coming to see you walk to get your diploma. I know.. I know.. that will all come in May when I get to walk, but still its kinda disappointing. At the same time I couldn't be happier. No more homework and stressing and late nights studying. Now it's time to face the real world. We will keep you posted if Cade and I make any big plans cuz at this point you never know :)

Our First Thanksgiving....

Thanksgiving weekend was probably the funnest time I've had in Panaca in a long time. My mom had so many activities planned for our family. All of us girls were saying it was miricle because we watched very little TV :) My highlight of the trip (besides eating) was riding four wheelers to Condor Canyon and the waterfall and then of course watching Cade play basketball in his first Traditional Mathews Thanksgiving Basketball game with all my brothers and in-laws. Cade's highlight was herding cows with my Dad... ha ha it makes me laugh!

So not only was it our first Thanksgiving but we also experienced many other "firsts" which I kinda already talked about but let me recap.....

Birthday

So I don't really have much to blog about...But I figured even if I didn't take any cool pics I could still tell about my B-day. Too bad Cade is not a blogger or else he could write this so I don't have to write about myself :) But yesterday was my birthday and I turned the big 23 -yikes! My parents came over the night before and took us out to dinner and bought me a cool present. They are so thoughtful and I'm glad they could come and celebrate with us. On my birthday Cade was such a sweet husband. He is very thoughtful I decided (ok.. I always knew). Anyways he bought me presents that I wanted and apparently always talk about...I guess he's a pretty good listener :) I told him this story about when I was growing up we had this Christmas decoration that we would put on our wall and put candycanes and snowmen etc on it to count down the 25 days till Christmas. Him, being the sweet man that he is, went and found me one.. I was very impressed :) His parents also sent me some stuff in the mail. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life!

Homecoming

I cannot believe that I have a nephew old enough to drive and date! It was Homecoming at Lincoln this past week so Cade and I decided to go support my nephew at his varsity football game on Friday night. I wouldn't really call it a game though. The final score was like 72 to O - of coarse Lincoln County High School killed them :) It was fun to watch T start as a running back and L my other nephew who was on JV. I had lots of memories come back...I think Cade got sick of me reminiscing the whole time. I can't believe that I have been out of high school for almost 5 years now. Its been a little longer for Cade but who's counting. Cade's getting used to small towns now I think. He asked me why don't you guys have a track here and I said your looking at it. He couldn't believe that it was dirt...Ghetto

Last Days of Summer

Cade and I have been trying to do lots of things outdoors before we have to deal with the cold weather here in Cedar. We went hiking with some friends on the backside of Zion's (that is basically in our backyard) which I never knew about.

Cade has been wanting to ride horses for the longest time. This last time we were in Panaca my sister Heather took us riding and Cade defintately surprised me with his horse riding skills ;)

He was feeling so confident that he took off in the sage brush alone for a while.

We also went fishing this past week up by Mammoth Creek. We have some friends that have a cabin up there and it is always fun to go enjoy the outdoors and get out of Cedar for a bit.

We went camping for the first time since we have been married at Cade's family reunion up Nephi canyon but I failed to take some pictures, so I guess that pretty much covers our summer fun. I went from not blogging at all, to trying to fill 2 months into one entry. However, I am started to get the hang of this a little bit better with the help of Lizzy :)

Its About Time

So I figured I might as well join everyone and start our own blog. I know my sisters and sisters in law will especially be grateful. I started thinking what do two newly weds have to blog about..but there just might be more to talk about than we thought. It might take me awhile to get this going but hopefully I can post some wedding pictures and keep everyone updated on our exciting lives :) We are suppose to be getting our pictures from our wedding photographer this week. So hopefully I'll have them up soon.
